Spring/Summer Season
(May 3rd [indoor classes] / May 6th [outdoor classes] to
September 6th, 2010) (our longest season yet, 19 weeks!)

Registration currently closed for all classes except TP Light.

Payment (please make cheques payable to Sue Abell) for all classes is due at the first class of the session.

NOTES:

  • Tread Powerfully® outdoor membership gives you access to outdoor classes suitable for your fitness and speed level.
  • Membership costs for Tread Powerfully® outdoor classes, Intense Strength and Tread Powerfully® Light (TP Light) give you access to the entire 4 month season with some of the times changing in the July/August months.
  • All outdoor classes leave from Joelle’s (457 Brant St) and are 60 minutes unless stated otherwise.
  • Trial classes are offered at no charge for individuals trying a class for the first time (all subsequent guest visits are $5); it is mandatory that trial class participants / guests bring a completed waiver form in order to participate in any class. Please refer to Steps 1 and Step 2 on the How to Register tab for more detailed information.
  • Tread Powerfully® management reserves the right to alter schedules after the season begins due to instructor injuries, space availability and minimum class size requirements not being met. Membership fees will be compensated accordingly if members’ membership status is impacted.
  • Classes will be cancelled due to thunder or lightening or unsafe conditions due to heavy rain fall, etc. Cancellations will be notified via email.
  • In light of tax increases due to the implementation of the HST, TP membership fees will remain at the same level as for the last five seasons. Any price differences this season are a result of the application of the HST in respect of services provided after June 30.
  • In order to meet the needs of all TP members, "unlimited" TP members are restricted to one outdoor class per day.

Class Descriptions and Pricing
(effective for Spring/Summer Season) (May 3rd to September 6th):

Tread Powerfully®  Outdoor Classes (4 month rate):

Advanced Intense Strength:
Burlington Seniors’ Centre
8 week program
Limited to 25 participants (minimum 15 required to run the class)

- 60 minute advanced indoor muscle and cardio strengthening workout, aimed at keeping your heart rate in the top range of your exercise zone
- class will include plyometrics, body-weighted exercises, sports-drills and skipping

Pre-requisites: commitment to attend the majority of the classes, ability to perform plyometric and body-weighted exercises, excited for the challenge to push the limits, currently using at least 8 lb dumbbells for majority of upper body movements
Equipment: dumbbells, thera-band, mat, skipping rope, medicine ball (8 - 10 lbs)

Teen Strength for Girls (ages 13 to 17):
Burlington Seniors’ Centre
8 week program
Limited to 25 participants (minimum 15 required to run the class)

  • $47.25 (includes GST)

- 60 minute indoor class will use music and movement to strengthen the entire body and spark and nurture that love of physical movement because of the energy, mental focus, confidence and resilience it develops
- body-weighted muscle and sports drills will encompass the majority of the class
- outdoor drills and power walks/runs will be used throughout this season throughout the class
- the environment will be a safe and inclusive forum, both physically and emotionally, with a welcome introduction and 10 minute cool-down and relaxation to connect and focus

Equipment: thera-band, skipping rope, roll-up mat, 3 lb dumbbells

Intense Strength (4 month rate):
TuesdaysBurlington Seniors’ Centre, limited to 60 participants

OR

FridaysBrant Hills Community Centre (May and June) and then
Burlington Seniors’ Centre (July and August), limited to 35 participants

- 60 minute indoor full-body muscle building class with high-resistance dumbbells
- class allows various fitness levels to participate as each person selects their resistance level and modifies the exercises according to the instructor cues

Equipment: dumbbells, thera-band, mat

Tread Powerfully® Light with Lisa:
Limited to 20 participants (minimum 12 required to run the class)

  • $65.40 (includes GST for May/June and HST for July/August)

- 60 minute specialty outdoor class beginning from parking lot at Snack Shack on Beachway Strip in Burlington
- a slightly slower pace than a regular TP class and no dumbbells
- focus is on technique, body alignment, muscle strengthening circuits and a 15 minute core strengthening and stabilization, deep stretching
- suitable for this looking to take down their regular TP pace a bit in order to perfect stride, those looking to return to fitness and this looking for a small group experience with regular follow-up

Tread Powerfully® Circuits:
This class is included with the purchase of your TP membership and is geared to those at an intermediate to advanced level.

This 55 minute class will combine power walking drills with body-weighted muscle, sports drills, dumbbell circuits and core engagement.

If you are up for a high-intensity class to start your day, where you are focussed on your abilities and a lot of sweat, this class is for you.

Tread Powerfully® Kids with Sue:
July 6th to August 31st
Limited to 20 participants

  • $33.90 (includes HST)

Back by popular demand, this 60 minute class is an experience designed just for those ages 7 to 12. During our session, your child will progress through drills, relays and circuits focused on balance, agility, speed and strength. The primary goal is that each member has fun and feels amazing at the end of each class. Each child will receive a “TP Kid Challenge” the first week and will practice this physical circuit each week. A teen helper from the Teen Strength for Girls class will be involved in assisting Sue with this class. On August 31st, the parents will be invited to participate with their child in class. Note: class will not operate in the rain and money will be refunded per class cancellation.


Lisa's Power Pilates Class
Spring/Summer programs
(May 3rd to August 30th, 2010)

This 1-hour workout will help you improve flexibility, balance and posture, as well as tone and strengthen your entire body.

Our focus is on the core: waist, hips, butt, thighs, back and abdominals using your own body weight as resistance as well as incorporating the use of a stability ball & resistance bands into routines.

This easy to follow, challenging class consists of 30 minutes weighted muscle conditioning combined with 30 minutes practicing the concepts of mat work Pilates.

Through controlled movements the combination of exercises will bring total muscle awareness to your mind and body.

Please bring your weights (5 to 10 lbs) and a mat to every class. There will be weeks when the stability ball/resistance bands will be used and notice will be given prior to the class.
